Summary for Monday, February 17, 2025

On Monday, the House passed HB1292. This bill allows the director of Children and Family Services to waive the residency requirement for the adoption of a minor under certain conditions. Specifically, this applies if the child is under 6 months old or if the child is 16 years or older and participating in a life skills, technical, or vocational program.

The House also passed HB1437, which prohibits level 3 and level 4 sex offenders from coming within 100 feet of water parks, swimming areas, children’s playgrounds, or public parks.

SB89, another bill passed, requires school boards to post meeting minutes within 24 hours of approval. It also mandates that regular meeting agendas be posted 24 hours before the meeting, and agendas for special or emergency meetings be posted at least 2 hours before.

Finally, the House passed HB1131, which allows advanced practice registered nurses to delegate specific nursing tasks to qualified healthcare workers who are not licensed to perform those tasks. The Arkansas State Board of Nursing will be tasked with setting the rules for these delegations.

The House will reconvene on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
