The Governor named Solomon Graves as the new Secretary of Corrections. Graves previously served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Corrections. Former Secretary of Corrections Wendy Kelly announced her recently announced her retirement.
There are now 841 active cases in correctional facilities in the state. Of those, 577 are in the Ouachita River Unit in Malvern.
The Ouachita River Unit houses inmates with special needs, medical issues, and an elderly population.
Acting Health Secretary Dr. Jose Romero said today that the agency will soon be issuing updated visitation guidelines for long-term care facilities in a congregant living center.
