There were 751 new cases reported in today’s COVID-19 daily update. There were 4 additional deaths and 8 additional hospitalizations also reported.
Of the new cases, 145 are from Hot Spring County. The Health Department says the vast majority of those cases are from the Ouachita River Correctional Facility.

When comparing public health regions, Central Arkansas now has the highest growth rate in cases.
The growth rate from June 28-July 4 is the highest amount of adults ages 18-24 years old. The second-highest growth rate is found in children ages 0-17.
The Governor said the average turnaround time for test results is getting longer. The average wait time in April was 1.6 days. The average wait time in July is now 2.5 days.
The Governor said the wait times are concerning and hopes with national support more resources can be directed to commercial labs.
