There were 522 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths reported in the state today. Of the new cases, 124 were from Washington County, 78 were from Benton County, and 85 from Hot Spring County.
The Department of Health says the rise in cases in Hot Spring County is due to an outbreak at the Ouachita River Unit in Malvern. The department is now testing all inmates and staff at the facility.
The department is also reporting a total of 188 cases in the Benton County Jail.
Today’s briefing largely focused on hospital capacity in the state.
There are a total of 8,917 hospital beds in the state with 2,522 currently available. The total number of ICU beds in the state is 970, with 222 currently available.
There are 894 ventilators in the state with 583 currently available.
The Governor announced today that the state has met its goal of conducting more than 10,000 tests in the month of June. He said he will soon be announcing the testing goal for the month of July.
