There were 731 new cases of COVID-19 reported today. This is the largest single-day increase in Arkansas since the health emergency began.
Of the 731 cases, 220 were from Washington County, 91 were from Benton County and 32 were from Madison County.
The Governor said Tyson tested 1100 team members of which 199 has positive results for COVID-19.
Tyson reports only 1 of those 199 employees were symptomatic.
Of the new cases, 207 are in correctional facilities. A majority of the cases from correctional facilities are from the East Arkansas Regional Unit.
The governor has activated 20 National Guard members to assist the Health Department in contact tracing. Requests for proposals from private vendors are also being considered to provide additional contract tracers.
Dr. Jose Romero, who will soon serve as the next ADH director, said more and more data is showing the importance of wearing a mask. He emphasized the importance of wearing a mask in public.
