Of the 249 new cases reported today, Health Secretary Dr. Nate Smith said 33 are from Pulaski County, 28 from Washington County, 20 from Benton, 23 from Sevier, and 18 from Crittenden County.
Testing continues in our long term care facilities across the state. The goal is to test every resident and staffer by the end of June.
The extensive testing is being called a stepping stone in a plan by long-term care facilities to re-open facilities back to family members for visitation. The industry says the plan is not finalized and adds that some facilities may open sooner than others.
Since the health emergency began, nursing home residents have accounted for 5.2% of all cases in the state, but 39% of all deaths.
