Last week, the number of cases for children ages 0-17 grew by 46%. In the same week, the number of cases for those 18-24 grew by 32%. Other increases among age groups were as follows:
Ages 25-44 26%
Ages 45-64 22%
Ages 65+ 16%
Health Secretary Dr. Nate Smith says the state is seeing a number of occupational clusters. Of the current active cases, 220 are associated with poultry industry employees.
Dr. Smith says he is increasingly concerned for the growing number of cases in the Latino community. Currently, 20% of active cases are among the Latino population.
In response to a question about planning for continued cases or possible increase in the fall, the Governor said the state is currently investing in more contact tracing and greater testing resources. He added the state is taking measures to plan for k-12 in-classroom instruction for the fall. The plans may include a more “blended” approach with online instruction. The Governor said he will likely be requesting approval from the legislature for improved broadband.
