The number of new cases of COVID-19 increased by 130 since yesterday. Of those 17 are from correctional facilities. The remaining cases were reported from Union, Craighead, Pulaski, Washington and Jefferson counties.
Commerce Secretary Mike Preston said the department has received close to 30,000 applications for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA). This is the unemployment available to self-employed and those not traditionally eligible for unemployment. Checks for PUA are expected to start going out next week.
Walmart is expanding testing sites in the state to include locations in West Memphis, Hot Springs, Jonesboro, and Texarkana.
As contact tracing becomes a critical component to limiting the spread in Arkansas, health officials are asking Arkansans to be responsive to calls from contact tracers with the Arkansas Department of Health. If you came in contact with someone who tested positive, contact tracers may be trying to reach you.
