The state has received a shipment of the COVID-19 drug Remdesivir from the CDC. There is currently enough for 50 patients and it will be distributed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
Governor Hutchinson says he will make an announcement on these openings on the following dates:
· May 18 – Bars
· May 20 – Summer camps and team sports
Of the 121 new cases announced today, 100 come from the community-at-large and 21 involve correctional facilities. Of those 100 community cases, 27 come from St. Francis County, where FCI Forrest City is located. Governor Hutchinson noted that during Dr. Anthony Fauci’s testimony before a US Senate committee today, he said that we might see “little spikes that turn into outbreaks.” Governor Hutchinson underlined the importance of preventing outbreaks like the one in St. Francis County from happening through contact tracing, increased testing capacity, and social distancing.
