The House convened today for an Extraordinary Session in the Jack Stephens Center at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. The venue provided additional space for members to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Members then met as a Committee of the Whole to approve HB1001. This bill creates the COVID-19 Rainy Day Fund through a transfer of surplus funds. The COVID-19 Rainy Day Fund would be used to offset general revenue reductions, funding needs and unanticipated needs created by the COVID-19 crises.
The House will convene again tomorrow at 3 pm.
The Governor announced a $116 million initiative to support health care providers in the state.
The Health Department says another Arkansan died today as a result of COVID-19. The department says that 41 people who have tested positive are in the hospital. There are 13 individuals on a ventilator.
