The National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) has selected Rep. Mary Bentley (District 73) as one of only 25 individuals to serve as a 2020 NCSL Maternal and Child Health Fellow.
The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Fellows program is designed to support legislators who are experienced or emerging leaders on MCH related issues. The selected participants will meet twice this year to exchange ideas and solutions, build knowledge about new research, and develop action steps for their state.
“As a former nurse and as a mother, improving the health of Arkansas mothers and children is a cause near and dear to my heart,” said Rep. Bentley. “I look forward to learning from the experts in this field and bringing back proven solutions for the next session.”
In the 2019 Regular Session, Rep. Bentley sponsored Act 1032 which creates the Maternal and Perinatal Outcomes Quality Review Committee. This committee will review data on births and develop strategies for improving birth outcomes.
Rep. Mary Bentley is serving her third term in the Arkansas House. She represents District 73 which includes portions of Yell, Pope, Perry, and Conway counties. For the 92nd General Assembly, Rep. Bentley serves the House Public Health, Welfare, and Labor Committee, the House Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development Committee, Joint Performance Review and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee.
