LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Jan. 22, 2014) – Members of the Arkansas House of Representatives and Arkansas Senate will square off in Hoops for Kids' Sake, the second annual legislative charity basketball game on Tuesday, February 18, at 7 p.m., at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock. Celebrity players, coaches and special guests will be on hand for the bipartisan exhibition game.
All proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas (BBBSCA), Boys & Girls Club of Bryant and Boys & Girls Club of Saline County.
"While the House fully intends to defend its title as the undefeated chamber on the basketball court," said Arkansas Speaker of the House Davy Carter, "we know the real winners will not be elected officials. The ones who benefit from this game are the young Arkansans who are empowered to succeed with the help of positive role models." Watch Speaker Carter predict the outcome of the game here.
General admission tickets are $10 and available at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. Sponsorships are $1,000. "The Senate has recruited several key celebrity players and have decided to practice this year," said Senate President Pro Tempore Michael Lamoureux. "I am confident that with a little practice, the Senate will have no problem in bringing the trophy to our side of the Capitol. Regardless of the outcome, we are excited about the chance to raise money for the youth of Arkansas."
