In every session, one of the first pieces of legislation to be considered by the House is the resolution to adopt House Rules. Rules of the House guide members on everything from how a bill can be amended to when a member can ask a question.
In the rules adopted today, members approved eliminating a bill filing deadline for non-appropriation bills. In previous sessions, more than 20% of all bills were filed on the deadline.
The House also approved a resolution proclaiming January 16, 2019, as "Religious Freedom Day”.
Close to 300 bills have now been filed. Committees began reviewing bills this morning and will continue tomorrow morning at 9am. The House will convene at 10am.
