The House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee will begin reviewing proposed constitutional amendments next week.
The committee will begin meeting on Monday mornings to hear bills and on Monday afternoons to hear proposed amendments. The committee will meet again on Wednesday afternoons to proposed amendments and possibly more bills.
Members will not be voting on the proposed amendments next week but rather hearing presentations from sponsors.
On Thursday, the House passed HB1568. This bill creates a legislative study on the possible use of
election technology to increase transparency and security. The study will include an assessment of the potential use of biometric data for elections, including the voluntary use of fingerprints and facial recognition technology. It will also include an examination of the procedures and changes necessary to allow for ballot tracking.
The House also passed SB137. This bill states that a local government shall not adopt any ordinance or policy that would prohibit the right of a customer to purchase, use, connect, or reconnect to a utility service.
The House passed HCR1011 which would allow the House to recess on March at the close of business on Tuesday, March 23, and resume their work on Monday, March 29.
The House will convene again on Monday at 1 pm.
