On Monday, the House passed a bill to increase the Homestead Property Tax Credit. HB1534 increases the credit from $500 to $600 effective January 1, 2025.
SB181, which was also passed, changes the qualifications for the State Librarian and regional library system directors, allowing work experience to replace the requirement of a master’s degree in library science from an accredited American Library Association program.
The House also passed SB139 and SB94.
SB139 clarifies that certain licensed medical professionals’ non-compete agreements are unenforceable.
SB94 eliminates the requirement for new all-terrain vehicle and low-speed vehicle dealerships to have a dedicated service and parts area. Still, it requires them to provide the name of a service provider within 40 miles.
Additionally, the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee began hearing proposed constitutional amendments and will continue to meet on Monday afternoons. The committee will not take a vote until all proposals are presented.
The House will reconvene on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
